PS I feel a change coming. I'm not sure what but it's coming. I wont be surprised if I wake up one morning and just pick it up to travel for a little while, recently I have been getting more and more simplistic and trying to tone down the chaos of life. I like this feeling. You should try it.

Meaning of art

Tue Apr 1, 2008, 8:20 AM
Well I finally took some decent pictures of most of my works! I hope you enjoy the new Deviations and the updated photos on any old ones! Also I have recently finished some new paintings, I will post those shortly, hopefully by the weekend, It will be my first time posting something current and not catching up on posting my library of works!

I wanted to take a brief moment to elaborate on my deviant name, Abstract Instincts. I just wanted to share that it refers to the way I paint. I certainly have a direction or a goal when I sit down to paint or draw but with me it is very instinctive. I kind of void my mind and stop thinking in words and sentences it's just feeling and vision. I don't know if everyone understands that since all artists are different, but I wanted to hear your comments. With me the painting tells me what to do, and i rarely do anything deliberate it pops into my head and then BAM it's on the canvas.

So, how do you approach you drawing, painting, photography, etc. Do you search out, manipulate, plan, or dictate your works? or do you go with the flow, capture the moment, or go off instinct? or both?

Ok I am off for now!

,
P.S. So I highly recommend Pretty. Odd. by Panic! at the Disco. Even if you never liked them try it out. Trust me. It's very Beatle-ish makes me happy, and has great compositional qualities. they have really evolved into great musicians I think. At least check out these tracks, That Green Gentleman, Mad as Rabbits, Folkin' Around, and Northern Downpour

Band of Gypsies

Mon Mar 17, 2008, 7:07 PM
So recently I have not only been feeling deviant but vagrant as well! >:)
I really want to travel It has been too long since I did last. (London in November, for me it's a long time!) And I really really want to go out and quest for great photos (In the meantime I will update some more that I have in my current library)

But ANYWAY I decided if I really want to have fun all the time I have to form a band of gypsies. I am going to work on this if you have any ideas or desire to be a gypsy yourself please let me know!

Here are 3 requirements for consideration of Gypsy Status!
1. You must have itchy feet (the constant will to travel and explore) and prior traveling experience
2. You must have some skill(s) that can make you money and/or get you out of trouble on the road
3. You have to be able to sing, dance, and/or play a musical instrument (for late night bonfire parties of course! and if you can't you will learn!)

Thank you everyone for all the support I'm on my way to 1,000 page-views!

And please everyone out there check out the band Brand New, recently I have found their music, especially Jesse's great lyrics, to be a source of support and inspiration.

Signing off,

Nate :D

P.S. I hopefully will be getting a subscription soon! :) Once I do I actually want to make a gypsy club! I'm really having some cool club ideas for it, contests, tasks, competitions, all based around random unplanned venturing and interaction with strangers. If you have anything to contribute post here or send me a note!

  • Reading: Storm of Swords
  • Playing: I Lost
  • Eating: I am hungry and need to get a cheddar bagel!

I plan on featuring some artists here in a week or so. All of you that watch my gallery so far I thank you very very very very much! I love the support everyone here gives each-other and i really value your feedback and encouragement!

I'm in the market for a new camera, If anyone has any input or suggestions please let me know.

P.S. I am building an actual website as we speak! Hopefully in a couple months it will be up! I am researching a printing service for my photography but mainly I want to be able to have the opportunity to sell my original paintings especially once i really start painting a lot. You will hear it here first as soon as we are rolling!

Fear the art

Sat Feb 9, 2008, 7:09 PM
Fear the art.

That's all i have to say. but not really ;-)

So hopefully pretty soon i can join a couple clubs. I have been looking around and trying to get a feel for how this all works i guess. It's really awesome to see the extent that some people go to support each-other on here and once i network a little more i will definitely feature some of the awesome people i have seen on here especially the ones who are starting out just like me since we can relate and give each-other support!

Also, I do enjoy constructive criticism for my work. Some people don't like doing this and that's fine but trust me i don't get offended, i really do enjoy learning from other peoples experiences, mistakes, opinions, and comments.

This wonderful club :iconinsect-lovers-club: has just taken me under their wing! I'll be submitting one of my Sunflower Fields Forever Pics soon. If you have a preference as to what one let me know!
